Horizontal Water Well Solutions is powered by Pumps of Oklahoma, a family-owned and operated business that has been serving the community since 1958. Horizontal Water Well Solutions benefits from robust engineering support, custom system design capabilities, and a reputation for quality and customer service built over years of field experience.
Horizontal Water Well Solutions was created to meet the growing demand for advanced groundwater access through horizontal water well drilling. We bring a specialized focus to the design and installation of horizontal wells—a technology that allows for greater water yield and efficiency compared to traditional vertical wells.
Horizontal Water Well Solutions is pioneering a breakthrough in groundwater extraction with our advanced horizontal water well drilling technology. Unlike traditional vertical wells, our horizontal wells can deliver 7 to 15 times the water production of standard vertical wells, dramatically increasing yield and efficiency for clients with high water demands.
A horizontal water well includes one vertical well, referred to as the production well, along with horizontal laterals. Multiple laterals are drilled from access wells that surround the main production well. These laterals intersect the production well at various depths based on the geological formation that produce the most water. Water flows from the laterals into the production well where it is pumped to the surface with a deep-set vertical turbine pump.
This is a 20" conventional vertical water well designated as the production well. Depths can vary 400-1400' depending on the formation. This well will include 16" 65# casing.
Horizontal directional drilling methods allow for a 4-3/4” open hole within a water bearing formation that is intersected with the production well. This will connect 4,000-6,000' of horizontal laterals in the net saturated aquifer.
The intersecting laterals dramatically increase the well's contact with the aquifer allowing for greater water yield and more efficient aquifer drainage.

Horizontal wells expose a much greater length of wellbore to the aquifer, allowing for 7 to 15 times the water output of a standard vertical well, depending on site conditions.
Because aquifers are usually much more laterally extensive than vertically thick, horizontal wells can access a much larger portion of the aquifer, maximizing yield and efficiency.
A single horizontal well can often replace multiple vertical wells, minimizing land disturbance and infrastructure needs.
Gamma ray logs measure the natural radioactivity emitted by subsurface materials encountered during drilling. The readings are primarily influenced by the presence of radioactive elements like potassium, uranium, and thorium, which are commonly found in clay-rich formations. This allows us to drill in permeable, clean sand for maximum water yield, while avoiding clay layers that restrict flow
Typical vertical water wells will screen 80-200’ of net saturated thickness formation whereas horizontal wells will have 4,000’ to 6,000’ of horizontal laterals in the net saturated aquifer.
With a reduced surface imprint, there are less wells, pumps, piping, and infrastructure required with a horizontal water well. In addition to the significant cost savings, the horizontal water well can improve the overall project timeline.
